St. Peter, instructed by the Blessed Virgin, founded the Order of Our Lady of Mercy for the Redemption of Captives. When all funds for the work were exhausted, the religious were bound by their rule to take the places of the prisoners with the infidels. St. Peter Nolasco died in 1256.
On the Novus Ordo calendar today is the memorial of St. Thomas Aquinas, the Anglic Doctor and the patron of our Institute together with St. Therese of Lisieux. After the 5:15 Mass (offered in Latin, although not according to the traditional Missal) the whole ITI family had dinner together at two loooooong tables. Fruit salad, soup, salad, pork roast, and more. I can do no better than repeat the words of Hilaire Belloc:Where e're the Catholic sun doth shine
