St. Joseph Calasanctius, a Spaniard of noble family, famous for his charity towards children, founded the Piarists or the Order of Clerks Regular of the Poor Schools of the Mother of God for the education of youth. He died at the age of 92 in 1648.
Today in Gaming the sun was finally out in all its splendor. These pictures were taken from the balcony of the Ave Maria common room on the rear side of the top floor of the Kartause. The old stone wall is the old monastery's outer fortifications against the advancing Turks.

Dear John,
To go to the "Tridentine" chapel, go into the main church, and then into the adoration chapel to the right of the sanctuary. Across the adoration chapel from the door is another door, which will probably be shut. Go through this door and up the spiral staircase (find the light switches on the wall as you go up.) At the top is another door, through which is the "Tridentine" chapel, which is pretty nice, and has (or at least had when I was there) lots of vestments and books in the cupboards. Also, people are allowed to go there, unlike the tower or the roof, which are harder to get into. God bless,
Mark
Thanks! I've found it, and you're right, it is pretty nice. Did they have Mass there often when you were here?
Unfortunately, they never had Mass when I was there. Apparently there was a priest that would come to say the Tridentine Mass there a few semesters before I was there, but he had stopped coming. But I prayed there a few times.
Ah, too bad! Although being deprived of the TLM is not as painful here since the Byzantine Divine Liturgy is also beautiful and reverent in its own rite.
Interesting to know.
