Verlander was not bad; 3 hits and 8K's in 6IP (114 pitches, tho). 3-run HR to Texeira was his only real problem (and 4 walks).
Coke and Rayburn really let 'em down, tho. . .
Cabrera scored twice and drove in one; Inge was 2/4 with a double, but also made the throwing error that led to the go-ahead run. . .
When's the last time the Tigers won on opening day? Seriously, I can't remember...
What year was it that the Tigers did win, not only the first game, but their first 19 games?
Would that be 1984? I know they started out winning 35 of their first 40 games that year.
Actually, they won the opener last year, 8-4 at KC. . .
In '84, they won their first 9, and 16 of 17, on their way to 35-5. . .
